It's a gorgeous day out side and I'm stuck inside studying.
Why? Because I'm an anal-retentive overachiever.  I hate it.

Lavagna (with Sestri Levante in the background).
I'm actually writing because I'm sick-to-my-stomach-missing Italy.  I long for the relaxing days in  Chiavari with my family and the nights I've spent in Torino with my friends.  I miss it to death! Somehow, the summer days in Tahoe can't compare to those spent by the ocean in Lavagna.  Can you blame me?
(BEWARE: RANT AHEAD!!!)  I'm truly getting sick of the American lifestyle.  The Americans who feel entitled, who complain about high gas prices (but still continue to drive gigantic V8 SUVs or trucks), who sit around and wait for a hand-out instead of taking action and doing something.  I'm not saying that Italians are any better or worse, I just prefer the lifestyle in Italy.

What  miss most about Italy is the language.  I want to speak Italian so badly it makes me want to cry.  The most frustrating thing, is that there is no one I know that speaks Italian.  (When I say "Italian" I mean someone who speaks it relatively fluently, not, "Hi, I've spent one semester in Florence and spent most of that time passed out drunk or traveling."

Anyway... I think I've vented enough for one blog.

Until next time!

The Land That Time Forgot

It's been months since my last update. Nursing school has sucked all the fun out of my life. No sleep. No social life. Study. Study. Repeat. Am I done yet?

The constant stream of reading assignments and group projects is getting tedious and I would rather be nibbled to death by ducks at this point. I frankly don't care if I get a C in all my classes. (Not really. I'd beat myself up emotionally if I got a C.)

Anyway, I'm boring anyone who reads this post, as it lacks any semblance of eloquence.

Trial by Fire: My first attempt at blogging

This site is a collection of my writing, photos, videos, etc. of my travels (mostly Italy) and general hullabaloo. Other selections may include food, life, my education, friends, and more. Much of what you will read here is not particularly biographical in nature, however, you will get a sense about how I think, the person I am, and the opinions I hold.

I am first and foremost, a traveler and somewhat of a nerd. I saw most of Europe before the age of 20 and have taken science classes for fun. I am passionate about Italian language and Italian culture and, when I am visiting Italy, my blog will be filled with rants and reflections about everything Italian. If that doesn't bore you to tears, I will be writing little snippets about life in general and the (tedious) life full-time nursing student. (Which I will begin in the Autumn of 2011.)

So, if I haven't bored you to the point of wanting to gnaw your own arm off to escape the intense physical pain of reading my blog - read on and enjoy!
